Use it sparingly, though, as there’s just not enough ammunition around to justify using this weapon over some of the others on the list. While it certainly has some major downsides when dealing with Virals, it’s not a bad weapon to have on your side when you’re overwhelmed. With semi-automatic firing capability and good downrange damage, it’s one of the best weapons with which to take on human enemies. If you absolutely have to use a gun, this is the choice for you. Pick this as your primary ranged weapon if you care about sneaking around. It’s a bit better than the bow and doesn’t pack with it all the downsides that come from using a firearm, though it doesn’t pack quite as much of a punch, either. If you’re not getting up close for a kill, this is the weapon you want to use. The damage isn’t great, but it’s good for use at a decent range and it’s silent. Yes, there is a very good case to be made for the simple crossbow as the best ranged weapon in Dying Light.
